A basic shopping cart enables your web site visitors to select products from your site and go to a checkout where the prices are totaled, together with any additional charges like postage. On completion, the order is sent to you by e-mail. If you want to receive payments on line by credit card, you also need an on line payment system.
Shopping cart packages
There are plenty of shopping cart packages that generate standard web pages from a database of products, but they have some disadvantages:
- They restrict the way you can present your products.
- The pages are not easily accessed by search engines.
